Tea Tree Oil Band-aid

So I have recently tried a new over night method to fight acne. For those times when you have a really big problem area and it wont go away. For example, Cystic acne and reoccurring pimples that last for several days and are very painful red and swollen.

What to do? After washing your face with a mild soap pat your skin dry. Take a band-aid that will cover the whole area or use 2 if you need. Put about 2 to 3 drops of Tea Tree Oil on the pad of the band-aid and put it over the affected area. leave it on all night. This should help the swelling to go down and prevent re-infection. Now that it's getting warmer don't forget to SPF.

The Lovely Lemon

I was looking at YouTube today and saw a lot of videos about acne scaring and how to get rid of it, but no one really seamed to have a solid solution so hear are my thoughts from my experience. When it comes to acne the first mistake that so many people make, including my self, is to pick at it. That is what causes permanent scaring and that's what you don't want. It can also make the acne you do have worse.

The first thing to do is to avoid touching the affected area. Massage in a small amount of Castor oil, it helps to soften the the skin and remove impurities. Cleanse the area with warm water and a mild soap. Use a cotton round and put a little lemon juice and apply to your face for up to 20 minutes for sensitive skin dilute with a little water. The last step is to reduce the redness and moisturize. Use a slice or two of cucumber and apply to the red or swollen area. Follow up with the moisturizer of your choice and be sure to SPF.

To Soap or Not To Soap

It's no secret that soap is very drying to the skin. Even oily skin suffers at the hand of soap. The reason for this is the soap removes the natural oils that form acid mantle which helps to protect skin from bacteria. So when you wash it off with soap there is nothing to protect your skin from germs. Not to mention even oily skin can become dry with the use of soap or astringents.

Many people with oily skin avoid oil all together when it comes to skin care, but in small amounts and with the right kind of oil I recommend it's use. The three I recommended are Olive oil, Coconut oil and Castor oil. You can use them on a rotation or just find your favorite. Simply use a dime size amount and massage it into your face for about 15 - 20 then wash with a milled soap. Finish with a your normal routine and remember your SPF.
